Breaking News: Liverpool 0 Southampton 1

Yes, that's right, toothless Kops can't cope with Southampton, losing 0-1 at Anfield. Why is this of interest since this is a Manchester United's blog? For starter, the rivalry between United and Liverpool is one full of history and with their flying start to the season, majority of Kop's fans seems to not only live in the land of delusion but also unashamedly claimed the bragging rights - for being at the top of the table in a season of 5 games (or less). Now the defeat comes as a big slap for those who thinks leading the table by one point (to Arsenal) after only 4 games is something to celebrate!!!

How Manchester United fans wondered if 2 weeks ago David Moyes' men would take their chances and fight like a cup final, the results may be different. Anfield is not such an intimidating place to go after all. Liverpool's confidence would also take another dive after such demoralizing defeat to Southampton at home and ahead of the 'Big Clash For A Small Cup' this coming Wednesday night at Old Trafford. Brendan Rodger's team might want to remind their fans of their midtable permanent residency and that the real title contenders are the two Manchester clubs and Chelsea, with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspurs having some slim hopes of upsetting the top three.

This results also highlight the importance of tomorrow's Manchester derby where Manuel Pellegrini and David Moyes will begins their derby fight for their new clubs. Winners will surely give themselves a good pat on the pat where the 3 points are all that matter comes May 2014.

Manchester City Vs Manchester United: Pellegrini Vs Moyes

Both are new to their jobs with Manuel Pellegrini totally new to the Premier League environment while David Moyes had eleven years of successful but trophy less stints at Everton. Both are also stepping up big time with their career (although Pellegrini has that forgettable unsuccessful stint at Real Madrid but it is at Villareal and Malaga that Pellegrini gained his reputation). Both Malaga and Everton are consider a different league to the Manchester clubs.

With the Champions League out of the way, both Manuel Pellegrini and David Moyes are set to clash head on for this Sunday’s Manchester derby. Both teams sit on 7 points, 3 behind the surprise league leader – Liverpool (yes, the permanent residence from midtable!). What will this derby means for both teams?

Transfer News: Cristiano Ronaldo Signs New Deal… With Real Madrid

Yes, he finally did it – he got things his way, again. Cristiano Ronaldo has just sign a new contract extension with Real Madrid and with that ends any hopes for Manchester United’s fans worldwide. Just as Gareth Bale did less than two weeks ago, United’s fans are disappointed yet again (read this), for these two players are supposed to be the marquee signings for United in the new era (at least either one of them).

Manchester United 4 Bayer Leverkusen 2: This is more like it…almost!

All the ‘first’ – David Moyes first Champions League game for Manchester United, first Champions League wins for United and himself, first Champions League win ever for United under someone other than the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson, and the list would go on but United fans would take this result. It is comfortable but not entirely convincing – for the soft goals that Bayer Leverkusen managed to scored.

Manchester United 2 Crystal Palace 0: Young gets the attention..again!!

The scoreline reads: Manchester United 2 Crystal Palace 0. Behind this scoreline is another fact – Crystal Palace had a player sent off at the 45 minutes mark, that lead to United’s taking a 1-0 lead through Robin Van Persie’s penalty. To simplify, United played against 10 men Crystal Palace for another 45 minutes and the scoreline in the end was 2-0. Convincing? How about the Ashley Young issue?

Manchester United Vs Bayer Leverkusen: Moyes must be ready

This is another series of first: David Moyes first group stage Champions League game, first Champions League game for Manchester United, first Champions League game for Manchester United at Old Trafford. Moyes is so new to this job there are so many ‘first’, but does it matter and how will he fare?

There is this interesting bit of news reported, although it never come from Manchester United themselves – guess it never will, that Cristiano Ronaldo has been the intended/ targeted marquee signing all along…….
