Premier League – Manchester United 0 Everton 1: Everton a better team now!!

David Moyes could not get the better of the man who replaced him at Everton – in his own backyard! That does not sound good – at all to any Manchester United’s supporters. Managing Everton and United is totally different – it is akin to driving a Japanese car compares to driving a German marquee brand. The quality of the squad is also way different and yet Everton managed to create history at Old Trafford on Wednesday night!Every single football fans knows David Moyes’ task of replacing the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson will not be easy – no matter what reasons that will be drawn into discussions and the results so far had supported this fact. Yet the calming factor here is that Manchester United’s hierarchy is sticking to their policy of standing by their manager no matter what on the pitch results are going to be. This policy is one of the reasons behind the emergence of United as a global powerhouse – as a football club as well as a brand. Yet a loss at Old Trafford – any loss in competitive matches at home will be difficult to stomach for United’s band of die hard supporters.

On Wednesday night, Manchester United’s quality on the field was evident – more of the lack of it – in the centre of the park. The forwards and the defenses are on a typical average form that United had shown all season. But the partnership of Ryan Giggs and Marouane Fellaini will always be the talking point. Granted they are rather new to each other in terms of on field partnership but they were never threatening. How United has miss the services of Phil Jones (suspended) and Michael Carrick (injury). And the finishing by United is also one to be lamented for.

12 points off league leader Arsenal is confidence sapping, especially if the Gunners goes through the hectic December period unscathed. This also leaves Manchester United with only one option in order to be right up there comes April and May – to win every single Premier League matches, regardless of oppositions or whether it is home or away. What a task David Moyes and his team will be facing in the coming weeks!!
